Oscar is safe after five days on the run through the woods of Allamuchy, NJ! His big adventure began when he pulled away from his owner to chase a deer, while dragging a ten foot leash.
The community rallied and the woods were combed in the hopes of finding him hung up. We were hopeful that he might of been able to get out of his loose collar, but as the days went by and not one sighting, worry set in.
Today, going back down the same trails that were searched countless times before, a bark was heard. The same bark we heard in a completely different area yesterday. Oscars dad, Ed called out to him and went towards the bark, it kept getting louder and louder as Ed made his way to him "Oscar, who's the best boy in the whole world, you are, you are." Ed repeated as he did every day as we combed the woods.
Oscar was running the woods until his luck finally ran out and his leash got stuck, sometime between late yesterday and 1 pm today. It looks as though he went down into a muddy area, most likely to cool off and his leash finally got stuck. As soon as Ed had eyes on him, Dave and I ran down the trail to meet him. I climbed down and got a slip lead around him and unhooked his caught leash and pulled Oscar up to safety and in to the arms of his dad who NEVER GAVE UP!
There are so many wonderful people in the community to thank. Rosemary Touhy, Dave Zuckerman, Ann Marie Tracey, Charlie Fineran and all who cared and shared. A big thank you to Blairstown Animal Hospital who took us in right away and are getting him treated and a much needed bath. Some times it takes a village and this village of Allamuchy is pretty damn awesome!!! Welcome home Oscar!!!
