Maximillian in Nyack, NY. went missing on Friday night while his owner was away in the South of France. He saw an opportunity to door dash when the housekeeper was carrying something outside and he made his great escape.
In a panic the housekeeper along with others chased him causing him to run and within a very short time he was almost two and a half miles away. It just so happened BDRR team member Dawn, was driving down the road and saw people pulled over searching with flashlights. Dawn stopped to ask if they needed assistance. When they told her it was a scared dog on the run she jumped into action and immediately began guiding them. Talk about the right person being at the right place at the right time... there are no coincidences.
The dog sitter had just arrived moments after Maximillian had escaped. She was able to give Dawn information on his past history which gave us great insight in determining our plan of action moving forward.
He was traveling an extremely wooded area on Clausland Mountain. Due to the nature of the area he was in, we only received one sighting in three days.
Today the owner and Dawn hiked the mountain through heavy brush and steep terrain to access the location of the sighting we received Sunday afternoon. From a distance Dawn spotted something on the decking of home that was built into the mountain. Low and behold, it was Maximillian sleeping!!
At that moment it was decided that Anna (the owner) under our guidance, would slowly, calmly and quietly and go sit on the decking with stinky food and a slip lead. Anna, sat down and began tossing little Vienna sausages and softly saying is name, thankfully, he didn’t run. He got up and made his way to her, you can see his body language shift when he realized it was her and he knew he was safe at last. He was hungry and ready to go home with his mom after three days.
Great job team member Dawn and thank you Anna for putting your trust in us to help bring your baby home.
Welcome HME Maximillian!
