A real life Homeward Bound unfolded for this little guy yesterday in the Ringwood Manor section of Ringwood State Park in Ringwood, NJ.
For three days that we know of, in torrential thunderstorms and stifling heat, this brave little boy was running the vast grounds of Ringwood Manor and Sloatsburg Road. For anyone who is familiar with the area, it is not a safe place for a such a little one to be on his own with so many predators.
Yesterday, he navigated across fast flowing waters to hide out on an island where he could stay cool and hideout. He is so little but navigated the small rapids repeatedly crossing back and forth from the island to the heavy brush across the water.
Just as it started to get dark, we watched as he made his way one final time off the island and within moments was at our trap, walking in to safety.
Thank you to Eric and Sue (and their beautiful Labrador, Cooper) the superintendent and historian at Ringwood Manor for contacting me to get help for this little one. Your kind hearts are the reason he is now safe. As I always say, if you see something, say something and that’s exactly what they did.
He is now at the North Jersey Community Animal Shelter in Bloomingdale, NJ where he will be held on a stray hold in the hopes of finding a family that may be missing him.
